Back in the 70s there was a strong youth movement at Sulphur Grove. Former youth pastors included: Tom Jacobs, Sam Stover,
Ted Larson, John Stemen, Karen Tinney, Cal Gibson, and Ray Lyon.
Youth retreats numbered about 50 youths and total
membership was around 100 at its peak in 1976.
It was a group with a mind for missions and outreach. The group raised
money through paper drives and spaghetti suppers. We went on mission trips and did work for the community such as painting
and cleaning out garages.
This was a group that saw no outsiders. Everyone was welcome regardless of church membership
or lack thereof. We may not meet together for paper drives anymore, but we can still be there for each other and reach out
to others wherever we live.
